Volleyball Opens Home Stand

LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa came away with a pair of big wins in the southwest corner of Colorado. On Friday, the Mavericks swept Fort Lewis in three. Mackenzie Edwards finished the match with 13 kills and 13 digs while Kricket Adleman recorded 10 digs.

In the showdown with Adams State, Colorado Mesa came away with a 3-1 win and sole possession of third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Freshman Allison Smith had 19 kills and sophomore Zie Edwards had 15 kills. 

UPCOMING MATCHES
The Mavericks are hosting their first full home weekend of matches this weekend in Brownson Arena. They host the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves on Friday evening where they are on a four-match win streak against the Pack.

On Saturday, they play host to the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls at 7pm. Colorado Mesa has won the last eight matches in a row against the Cowgirls that dates back to the 2011 season.

SETTER OF THE WEEK
Maverick senior Ali Svorinic was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference setter of the week for her play against Fort Lewis and Adams State. Svorinic averaged 14.43 assists per set (101 total assists) in the weekend sweep. She also helped the Maverick hitters acheive a .260 hitting percentage on the weekend including a .321 percentage against Fort Lewis.

FAST STARTERS
The Mavericks are now 11-0 this season when they win the first set. After dropping the first set in the three losses, CMU was able to battle back and take one of the next three sets.

DIG IT
Colorado Mesa is tops in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in service aces allowed. They have allowed just 36 service aces on the season and 0.67 service aces per set.

DIG STREAK
Sophomore Taylor Woods snapped her double-digit dig streak in the 3-0 win over Fort Lewis. Her streak reached 37 matches before recording eight digs in the sweep of the Skyhawks.

NATIONAL POLL
Colorado Mesa is still receiving votes in the latest AVCA National Poll. Colorado Mines is the lone RMAC team in the poll at No. 16 with the Mavericks and MSU Denver receiving votes.
