LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa split the weekend trip to South Dakota dropping the match to Black Hills State before defeating South Dakota Mines. Mackenzie Edwards finished with a match-high 18 kills but the Mavericks committed 39 attack errors in the loss.
They rebounded to defeat South Dakota Mines in straight sets while having a hitting percentage of .263. Gabi Dias finished with a team-high 10 kills.
UPCOMING MATCHES
The Mavericks have a split week this week with a home match on Tuesday against Western State Colorado and a road match on Friday at Westminster. CMU defeated both opponents earlier in the season defeating Western State in four sets and Westminster in three. Western State is in the hunt for a home tournament match while Westminster is not eligible for postseason.
FIRST SET
One thing has been in common with the four losses the Colorado Mesa volleyball team has suffered this season, they lost the first set. The Mavericks are 0-4 this season when losing the first set of the match.
RMAC PICTURE
The Mavericks are still in position to claim the RMAC Championship with a pair of matches still on the schedule with current standings leader MSU Denver. Colorado Mesa is currently tied with Colorado Mines with Regis two matches back of both schools. Western State is locked in a three-way tie for fifth with UCCS and Adams State.
STREAKING
The loss to Black Hills State snapped a seven match win streak with their last loss coming at Regis on September 23 in five sets. Their previous win streak was seven matches that went from September 3 to September 17.
NATIONAL POLL
Colorado Mesa dropped out of the AVCA National rankings just one week after their debut. MSU Denver sits at No. 20 while Colorado Mines dipped to No. 22.
