GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - The 14th ranked Colorado Mesa Men's Soccer team came from behind for a 2-1 win against University of Colorado Colorado Springs Sunday (Oct. 23) in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match at Walker Field.
The Mountain Lions scored the first goal of the match in the 28th minute by Alex Vonholle from 12 yards out.
The Mavericks trailed the Mountain Lions during the first half in shots 4-2, but came back outshooting UCCS in the second half 7-3.Â
Luis Schraidt tied the game for the Mavericks in the 60th minute with a shot deep into the corner assisted by
Kevin Del Mazo. The goal was Schraidt's second goal of the season.Â
The game winning goal came in the 67th minute was made off the foot of
Roy Abergil, it was a long pass over the defenders to Abergil by
Moshe Perez. The goal was his 22nd of the season, which is tied for the nation's lead.
Perez leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in assists with 10.
Goalkeeper Briley Guaneri for CMU had one save while UCCS had three saves.
The Mavericks will head to Denver to play Regis University Friday (Oct. 28), and South Dakota Sunday (Oct. 30).
