Women's Soccer heads to Pueblo

LAST WEEK
The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the final seconds to score a thrilling 2-1 win over Adams State Sunday (Oct. 16). Mackenzie King and Alexis Allard each scored for the Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team in a 2-1 win over Fort Lewis in RMAC play Friday (Oct. 14). King finished both matches with a goal off a free kick.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
The Colorado State University - Peublo Thunderwolves enter the match against Colorado Mesa with a 9-3-0 overall record and a 6-2-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record. Their leading scorer, Laikyn Koss has six goals, 12 points, and a 0.343 shot on goal average. The Thunderwolves second leading scorer, Sandra Grimaldo has five goals, one assist, 11 points, and a 0.636 shots on goal average.The New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls enter the match with a 2-9-1 overall record and a 2-6-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record. Their leading scorers, Anyssa Dagnino and Salina Lucero, both have three goals. Dagnino also has two assists, eight points and a 0.667 shots on goal percentage. Lucero has six points and a 0.588 shots on goal percentage along with her three goals.

LAST YEAR
The last time the Mavericks faced the Thunderwolves was in 2015 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match and the Mavericks won 2-1. The last time the Mavericks saw the Cowgirls was also in a 2015 RMAC match and the Mavericks won 1-0.

IN THE RMAC 
The Mavericks are in good standings in a few catagories within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CMU is fifth in goals allowed (0.93), fourth in goals against average (0.89), and tied for second in shutouts with six. Amanda Wenzel is sixth in shots per game (2.92), tied for sixth in shots (35), and fifth in game winning goals (2). Katelyn Houston is third in goals against average (0.76). Janelle Richmond-Buccola is third in shoutouts per game (0.43).

MAVERICKS
The women are 7-0-0 when outshooting the oppenent.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Mavericks will host Black Hills State Sunday (Oct. 30)  at 1, this will be Senior day.
