#24 Mavericks Head to South Dakota

LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa won a pair of huge matchups last weekend in Brownson Arena. On Friday, they defeated Colorado Christian in five sets, creating seperation in the RMAC standings between them and the Couagrs.

On Saturday, the Mavericks took down 18th ranked Colorado Mines in four sets to stay just one match back of now first place MSU Denver. The loss was the first in the RMAC by the Orediggers.

UPCOMING MATCHES
The Mavericks will embark on the longest trip they have in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference when they travel to South Dakota to take on Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines. Black Hills State enters the weekend on a three match win streak and is now in the hunt for an RMAC Tournament berth.

The Hardrockers come into the weekend seeking their first RMAC victory. 

SETTER OF THE WEEK
Senior setter Ali Svorinic was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference setter of the week for the second time this season. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native helped the Maverick hitters to a .243 hitting percentage and averaged 12.78 assists per set in the weekend sweep of Colorado Christian and #18 Colorado Mines.

SMART KIDS
Nine volleyball student-athletes were named to the RMAC All-Academic team this week. Mackenzie Edwards and Taylor Woods were each named to the first team while Kricket Adleman, Alyssa Chutka, Gabriela Dias, Hattie Gianinetti, Megan Gianinetti, Hana Peterman and Natalee Todd were honor roll recipients.

BIG WIN
In set two versus Colorado Mines, the Mavericks defeated the Orediggers 25-12. It was the worst single set loss for Colorado Mines since November 18, 2010 when they lost 25-12 to Southwest Minnesota State. 

NATIONAL POLL
Colorado Mesa cracked the AVCA Top-25 poll checking in at #24 this week. It is the first time the Mavericks have been ranked since September 7, 2015 when they were ranked 18th. Colorado Mines is two spots ahead of CMU while MSU Denver is one slot ahead of them.
