GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the final seconds to score a thrilling 2-1 win over Adams State Sunday (Oct. 16).
The Mavericks out-shot the Grizzlies 10-3 in the first half but the game remained scoreless.
Elizabeth Anderson scored her first goal of the season for Adams State off a corner kick with under four minutes remaining in regulation. She was assisted by Elaine Van de Wille and Shelby McBain.
Hannah Naftanel crossed a pass to
Alexis Allard who headed it over the keeper with 16 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 1-1 and force overtime.
With under 30 seconds remaining in the second overtime
Mackenzie King scored the game winning goal from 30-yards out.
King also had a free kick goal from 30-yards out against Fort Lewis on Friday.
Colorado Mesa dominated 21-9 in shots, but Adams led 6-2 in corner kicks.
Colorado Mesa (7-5-2, 5-3-1) will play at CSU-Pueblo Oct. 21.
