DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team dropped a 67-60 decision to the Regis Rangers on Friday evening at Regis Fieldhouse. The Mavericks fall to 10-6 on the season and 7-5 in the RMAC.
Colorado Mesa trailed 37-33 at the halftime break and fell behind by as many as 13 with 9:51 left in the fourth quarter. They cut the lead to one after a
Sydney Small made free-throw with 2:34 to play but Regis closed the game out on an 8-2 run.
The Mavericks were ice cold from beyond the three-point line in the second half, shooting 1-for-14 and finished 5-for-23 in the game.
Colorado Mesa was outrebounded 41-31 and helped give Regis a 10-4 advantage in second chance points despite committing a season-low five turnovers.
Five Mavericks played a majority of the minutes in the game with Small,
Bryanna Adams,
Laurin Rivera,
Nicole Archambeau, and
Ashley Stevens all playing over 30 minutes in the game.
Small led all scorers with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. She added four rebounds and four assists.
Stevens and Archambeau each scored 12 points coming off the bench.
Bryanna Adams finished with 11 points while
Laurin Rivera had six points and six assists.
Karlyn Johnson led Regis with 15 points and eight rebounds.
The Mavericks will play at Chadron State tomorrow at 5:30pm in Nebraska.
