Bryanna Adams finished with 25 points and
Erika Musante had 18 rebounds in a 58-50 win over Fort Lewis on Friday evening in Brownson Arena in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest.
Colorado Mesa shot 31 percent from the field and 21 percent from beyond the three-point line. They only scored six points in the first quarter and didn't score their first points of the game until the 4:55 mark on a free-throw by
Jaylyn Duran.
The Mavericks took their first lead of the game with 14 seconds left in the first half at 24-23, closing out an 11-0 run from the 3:35 mark of the second quarter.
Adams had a steady game finishing with 12 points in the first half and 13 points in the second half. She was 8-for-18 from the floor and 4-for-11 from the three-point line.
Musante finished the night with 18 boards which is the most since January 26, 2013 when Katrina Selsor pulled in 17 rebounds against Regis. She also finished the game with nine points, four blocks, and two steals.
Senior
Laurin Rivera finished the night with five points and 10 assists. It was the first time a Maverick had 10 assists since Christen Lopez had 10 against Chadron State on February 8, 2014.
Fort Lewis was led by the 14 points of both Astrea Reed and Dallas Dickerson.
The Mavericks will be back in action tomorrow night at 5:30pm when they take on the Adams State Grizzlies in Brownson Arena. It will also be the Swing for Life game with proceeds benefitting Huntsmans Cancer Research.
