LIVE VIDEO vs. MSUMatch Notes vs. St. Edward's and Midwestern StateSEASON OPENERSColorado Mesa is 3-2-3 in season opener's all-time. Last season, they opened up with a 2-0 win over St. Edward's at Walker Field . That was only the second time in the program's history they opened the season in Grand Junction.
THE BACK LINESenior
Blake Carlson is the only returner on the defense that allowed a 0.70 goals against average last year.
Stan Schrock,
Oliver Querin, and
Austin Jex all graduated from the defense last year. This season's squad has nine defenders on the roster to help replace the three that have departed.
CROSSING IT INSenior
Nestor Escobar enters the season as the all-time leader in assists with 16. Escobar finished last season with eight assists which is the single-season record. He was an All-Region performer a year ago and will look to extend his all-time mark and eclipse his single-season total.
ABERGIL'S ANTICSJunior
Roy Abergil was the Mavericks leading scorer a year ago, tallying 28 points and 12 goals. The 28 points moved him into fourth all-time and tied for first in a single-season. He was named an All-American by the NSCAA for his effort.
GOALKEEPINGThe Mavericks will be breaking in a new goalkeeper this season. They will have big shoes to fill after
Micah Conrads and
Brandyn Bumpas both left the team after graduating. Junior
Nick Mabry and freshman
Briley Guarneri will both battle for the starting nod. Head coach
Todd Padgett has yet to name a starter.
NSCAA POLLColorado Mesa opens the season in the same spot they finished last season, No. 4. 2014 National Champion Lynn opens the season in the top spot, followed by Charleston and Quincy.
INTERNATIONAL PLAYThis year's roster features four international players. Redshirt junior

Oscar Odriozola hale from Mexico. Junior
Roy Abergil and freshman
Moshe Perez both come from Israel.
COACHINGTodd Padgett is in his second season coaching the Mavericks. He had an extermely successful first season, finishing 18-4-1 and leading the Mavericks all the way to the NCAA National Semifinals in Louisville, Ky.Â
The Mavericks will have four assistants helping them out this season with
Stan Schrock returning as the top assistant. Schrock was an Academic All-American and All-Region defender a year ago.
2014 NCAA NATIONAL SEMIFINALISTSThe Mavericks had their second straight season of firsts. In 2013, they won the RMAC Tournament for the first time in program history. They followed that up with their first NCAA Tournament appearance, NCAA Tournament win, and South Central Region title.
RMAC PRESEASON POLLColorado Mesa was picked to finish fifth in the preseason coaches poll but received four first place votes.
Roy Abergil and
Blake Carlson were selected to the preseason All-RMAC team with Carlson earning preseason defensive player of the year.
VIDEO STREAMINGColorado Mesa and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference have teamed up with Stretch Internet to provide video streaming for all home games this season. Video streaming will also be free this season. Find the link at CMUmavericks.com.Â
