Mavericks Close Out Regular Season with Sweep

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa closed out the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of the Colorado Mines Orediggers on Saturday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks finish the regular season with a 43-6 overall record and 35-4 in the RMAC.

In game one, Kyle Serrano was 2-for-3 and James Young III was 3-for-5 to lead Colorado Mesa to a 9-0 shutout of the Colorado Mines Orediggers.

Serrano drove in three and scored two in the game while Young scored three runs and hit his second triple of the season.

Ryan Reno earned his nation leading 11th win of the season after going six innings and allowed just four hits and struck out four. Reno never allowed a runner past second base in his work.

The bullpen combined for three innings and allowed two hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

The win gives the series win for the Mavericks and marks this first time in program history that Colorado Mesa has won every series of the season.

In the series finale, Colorado Mesa came out and took a 5-0 lead and never looked back in a 12-4 win over the Orediggers.

Matt Delay started on the mound for the first time since March 29 and pitched well. Delay pitched three shutout innings and allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two.

Trent Allianic picked up the win after pitching the middle three innings. He allowed three runs on three hits, and struck out one to move to 2-0.

Ben Chamberlin went 4-for-5 with four runs driven in and two runs scored. He led off the game with a monster home run to right field and was a triple short of the cycle.

Garrett Ball had a pinch hit home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was his first career home run, a three-run shot to left field.
