DENVER – The Colorado Mesa University softball team split a doubleheader at Colorado Christian Sunday (April 19).
The Mavericks won game one 3-2 and lost game two 10-2.
The opening game was a defensive battle with the two teams combining for 11 hits, only one of which was for extra bases.
Brooke Hodgson drove in two runs in the third inning with a single through the right side.
The Cougars capitalized on a Maverick error to score two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Mesa scored the winning run in the sixth inning without a hit and two errors by Christian.
Brooke Hodgson earned the complete game win giving up five hits and striking out five.
The Cougars scored 10 runs on 11 hits in game two, while the Mavs plated two runs on five hits.
CCU led 3-1 after four innings, before scoring five in the fifth.
Brooke Hodgson hit a homerun in the sixth to complete the scoring for CMU.
Colorado Mesa (30-17, 26-7) will finish the four-game series with Colorado Christian Monday (April 20).Â
