Mavs Come From Behind in Win Over MSUD

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Austin Wallingford's sacrifice fly in the ninth that scored PJ Gonzalez from third gave the No. 3 Colorado Mesa baseball team an 8-7 walk-off win against the MSU Denver Roadrunners on Monday afternoon at Suplizio Field.

The Mavericks trailed 7-6 heading into the ninth. Andy Scott led the inning off and was hit by a pitch, moved up on a sac bunt by Alex Fife and scored on a single up the middle by Gonzalez to tie the game at 7-7.

Kyle Serrano followed with a single to left field and Kevin Mitchell walked to load the bases for Wallingford's heroics.

Fife finished the game 4-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in while Serrano capped his weekend with three more hits and two runs driven in.

Joey Capistran picked up his second win of the weekend in relief. Capistran (4-0) pitched the final 1.2 innings and allowed just one hit.

Trent Allianic started the game and went 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, walked two and struck out six. He left in the fifth inning to an apparent injury and received the no decision.

The walk-off win gives Colorado Mesa 11 straight wins heading into next weekend's matchup with Colorado Mines at Darden Field in Golden.
