POLLSColorado Mesa continues to be ranked in the top five in every major poll that has been released this week. The Mavericks are ranked No. 2 in the NCBWA poll while they are ranked No. 3 in both the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Coaches Poll and the D2Baseball News Poll. They are also No. 1 in the NCBWA South Central Region poll and have been in the top spot all season long.
STARTING ON A STREAKColorado Mesa opened the season on a five game winning streak and finished the non conference portion of the schedule 8-2. The 8-2 start matches only the start they had in 2009, the first year they reached the NCAA World Series.
ROTATION CHANGESThe Mavericks will more than likely go back to their rotation they had against Cal Baptist with one change.
Trent Allianic will probably remain in the No. 4 spot in the rotation with
Matt Delay in the No. 1 spot. Allianic picked up the win last weekend against CCU in his first start of the season.
PROTECTING THE HOUSESuplizio Field has been very kind to the Mavericks for several seasons now. The Mavericks are 81-7 the past three seasons including the 7-1 start this season. They have not been shutout at home in 328 games dating back to the 2004 season (L 0-3 Western Oregon, Feb. 14).
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPColorado Mesa played for the NCAA National Championship last year coming up just short to Southern Indiana 3-2 in 12 innings. It was the first time in program history the Mavericks have reached the National Championship game.
ON DECKThe Mavericks will continue their Front Range road swing with a four-game series with the Colorado Mines Orediggers at Darden Field in Golden.
