Mavericks Win Slugfest over Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Dakota Behr pitched five innings of shutout relief and the Maverick offense didn't go away in a 21-10 win over Adams State in an old fashioned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference slugfest. The Mavericks improved to 27-3 on the season and 19-1 in the RMAC.

Behr entered the game in the fourth inning with Colorado Mesa trailing 10-7. He allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out four in earning the win in relief. He is now 1-1 on the season.

Colorado Mesa scored in every inning except one on the day. They scored four runs in the first and six runs in the fifth inning while pounding out 23 hits in the game.

The 21 runs and 23 hits are both season-highs for the Mavericks.

Alex Fife led the Mavericks with a 5-for-6 performance, scoring four runs and driving in two. His five hits are a season-high and hasn't been done since 2013 when Justin Rosales had five hits against Colorado Mines.

Austin Wallingford continued his torrid weekend with a 3-for-4 day. Wallingford hit his fifth home run of the weekend in the fifth inning. He hit .733 in the series with 10 runs scored and 10 runs driven in.

Kevin Mitchell had four hits in the game including his fourth home run of the season.

Kyle Serrano and Bligh Madris each drove in five runs in the game.

Six Mavericks finished the game with three or more hits.

The Mavericks will take on CSU-Pueblo next weekend in a battle of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference heavyweights at Suplizio Field. The series will begin on Thursday at 6:05pm due to the Easter weekend.
