ALAMOSA, Colo. – Top ranked Colorado Mesa extended its program best winning streak to 20 games after a 10-3 over Adams State on Friday afternoon at ASU Baseball Field. The Mavericks improved to 25-2 on the season and a perfect 17-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Colorado Mesa scored in every inning except the first and the ninth innings.
Austin Wallingford started the Maverick onslaught with a home run in the second inning to give the Mavericks the only lead they would need. The home run was Wallingford's third of the season.
Kevin Mitchell added a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. The homer was his third homerun of the season.
Second baseman
Andy Scott extended his hitting streak to 11 games after going 2-for-5. He had a double, a run scored and a run driven in.
Matt Allen got his third straight opening game start and picked up his third win of the season. Allen went seven innings and allowed three runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out three.
Tyler Ehlers pitched the final two innings and didn't allow a hit.
The Mavericks will play a doubleheader tomorrow at 12pm.
