ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Colorado Mesa University softball dropped a non-conference doubleheader at No. 5 Dixie State Thursday (March 26).
The Red Storm won game one 11-2 and game two 9-0.
The Mavericks got on the scoreboard first scoring both of their runs in the first inning.
Nicole Robinson singled up the middle and then scored on a single to right field by
Zoe Pakes.
Brooke Hodgson, who reached on a walk, scored on a double to right center by
Sarah Phillis.
Dixie answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Red Storm would add two runs in the third and seven in the fourth.
Dixie State held a 13-5 edge in hits.
Mesa struggled offensively in game two collecting just four hits.
Dixie scored nine runs on eight hits and two Mesa errors.
CMU (18-15) will play a four-game series at Western New Mexico March 28-29.Â
