GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa and Adams State split a softball doubleheader Sunday (Mar. 22).
The Mavericks won game one 13-5 thanks to 15 hits.
Mesa scored three runs in the first inning including a single up the middle by
Sarah Phillis that scored two.
Adams would tie the game at three with a run in the second.
CMU exploded for seven runs on six hits in the fourth.
Makayla Kovac hit a solo homerun in the fifth, and the Mavericks ended the game early after scoring two runs in the sixth.
Kovac led the team hitting 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Brooke Hodgson earned her 13
th win of the season allowing five runs, four earned, on 10 hits.
Colorado Mesa scored first but a three run fifth inning by Adams State led to a 4-2 Grizzly win.
Makayla Kovac and
Tawnee Woosley each had two hits for the Mavericks.
Colorado Mesa (18-13, 14-5) will play a non-conference double header at Dixie State Thursday (March 26).Â
