Lacrosse Drops Hawks

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Olivia Porcaro scored a game-high five goals to lead the Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team to an 18-4 win over Rockhurst Friday (March 20).

CMU finished with a 30-7 edge in shots, including a 21-5 mark in the first half.

CMU opened the game with four straight goals from four different players over the first three and a half minutes.

Rockhurst would battle back scoring three of the next four goals to pull within two 5-3.

Mesa would close the second half scoring eight of the next nine goals, including a pair from Olivia Porcaro.

Porcaro opened the second half with a goal and added a second as CMU out-scored RU 5-0 over the final 30 minutes.

Jessica Cook finished with four points (three goals, one assist), and Ashley Eickhoff (three goals) and Kayla Lyall (two goals, one assist) each had three points.

Kady Herzog earned the win in goal for the Mavericks. Jillian Pfeiffer made two saves and did not allow a goal after starting the second half.

CMU improves to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the RMAC. Mesa will play at Catawba March 24.
