Mavericks Make it 15 in a Row

GOLDEN, Colo. – The No. 2 ranked Colorado Mesa baseball team completed a four-game sweep of the Colorado Mines Orediggers on Sunday afternoon, winning the series finale 9-3. The win moves the Mavericks to 20-2 on the season and gives them their 15th win in a row.

Colorado Mesa built a 3-0 lead after three and a half innings before the Orediggers could get on the board.

The Mavericks big inning came in the four run fifth inning. The inning included a two-run single from Kyle Serrano, an RBI groundout by Bligh Madris, and a sac fly by Andy Scott.

Serrano capped the weekend with three more hits including his fourth big fly of the season that came in the third inning. Serrano finished the series 10-for-17 with a pair of doubles, a home run and six runs driven in.

Lefty Tyler Ehlers started his first game of the season on the mound. Ehlers went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out four to earn his second win of the season.

A trio of relievers combined to go three shutout innings allowing just two base runners over that span.

The Mavericks are now 12-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play heading into next weekend's showdown with the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys at Suplizio Field.
