NEW OUTFIELDThe Mavericks will open the season with three new faces in the outfield. A combination of
Bligh Madris, Ben Chamberlin,
John Ballard, PJ Gonzales,
Alex Fife and
Mitch Robinson figure to battle it out in the non-conference schedule for the starting jobs.
FRESH FACESThe Mavericks could start as many as three true freshman in the field this season.
Bligh Madris could get the starting nod in right field while
Nick Cardinale should secure a spot in the rotation.
Zach McLeod could eventually see time at either shortstop or third base.
ON THE MOUNDThe Mavericks will have some veteran leaders on the mound this season.
Matt Delay went 9-0 last season as the staff ace and
Matt Allen went 7-2 with an under three ERA out of the bullpen. Lefty
Ryan Reno and
Dakota Behr could see time in the rotation to start the season.
Tyler Ehlers,
David Johnson, and
Trent Allianic could all see time in the rotation as well.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPColorado Mesa played for the NCAA National Championship last year coming up just short to Southern Indiana 3-2 in 12 innings. It was the first time in program history the Mavericks have reached the National Championship game.
ON DECKThe Mavericks will continue their six-game road trip with a four-game set against Dixie State in St. George, Utah.
