Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa secured at least a share of the RMAC Championship after defeating the Adams State Grizzlies 80-65 on Friday evening in Brownson Arena. The win gives the Mavericks 50 consecutive wins at home heading into the season finale tomorrow evening.
Adams State tried making it interesting late, forcing four Maverick turnovers in the final two and a half minutes of play. The turnovers led to eight points off those turnovers, all resulting in layups.
Erin Reichle paced the Mavericks with 22 points with 13 coming in the first half of action. Reichle was 6-of-16 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. She also forced four steals on defense.
The Mavericks had a huge edge in the rebounding battle with a plus-20 margin, including 19 on the offensive end. They also led to a 21-5 advantage on second chance points.
Laurel Kasel led the Mavericks in rebounds with 10 and finished the double-double with 12 points.
Shanna Halalilo finished with 19 points and
Leanndra Gilbert had 11 points to round out the Mavericks in double figures.
Laurin Rivera had seven point and handed out six assists.
Desiree Anderson led Adams State with 16 points.
The Mavericks will have a chance to win the RMAC Championship outright with a win tomorrow night against Fort Lewis or a loss by UCCS to MSU Denver.
Colorado Mesa will take on Fort Lewis at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
