Salt Lake City, Utah – The No. 23 Colorado Mesa women's basketball team allowed just 40 points in a 60-40 win over Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference newcomer Westminster on Saturday night in Behnken Fieldhouse in the conference opener for both teams.
The defense was stifling, limiting Westminster to 27.3 percent shooting on 15-for-55 shooting from the field and just one made three-point basket. They allowed just six points in the third quarter and seven points in the second quarter.
Colorado Mesa was plus 10 on the rebounding margin 38-28 and had 31 on the defensive end.
The Mavericks limited Westminster's leading scorer Natalie Parsons to zero points on 0-for-10 shooting from the field. She entered the game averaging 16 points per game.
Bryanna Adams led the Maverick offense with a game-high 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting including 3-of-5 from downtown. Adams also hauled in a game-high eight rebounds and handed out three assists.

Siu Lo'amanu had 10 points while
Sydney Small added nine points and had a game-high five assists.
Colorado Mesa committed 17 turnovers that led to 17 Griffin points and only shot six free-throws in the game.
The Mavericks will return home next weekend for a pair of RMAC contests with UCCS and MSU Denver on Friday and Saturday in Brownson Arena.
