Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa swept the Colorado Christian Cougars in three sets on Friday evening in Brownson Arena to set up a showdown with Colorado Mines on Saturday evening.
The Mavericks won the first set 25-19 with only two lead changes that occurred in the match's first six points.
In the second set, Colorado Christian had a pair of leads evaporate quickly. One came at 7-3 the other at 16-11 but Colorado Mesa was able to squeeze out a 25-20 win. The Cougars committed 11 errors in the set and hit -.019.
In the third set, the Mavericks led wire-to-wire and raced out to an 8-1 before Colorado Christian could call a timeout. They led by as many as nine in the 25-20 victory.
Caitie Breaux led the Mavericks with 15 kills, hit .297 and added 11 digs. She had six kills and nine digs in the second set alone.
Erin Perez added eight kills and nine digs.
Taylor Woods had a match-high 12 digs and
Ali Svorinic finished with a match-high 28 assists.
Colorado Mesa improved to 15-9 on the season and 13-3 in the RMAC.
The win sets up a showdown with Colorado Mines for the top spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Saturday evening at 7pm inside Brownson Arena.
