Mesa will face NAIA member Webber International Friday (Nov. 27) and Texas A&M - Commerce Saturday (Nov. 28). Admission to this weeks games are free with a nonperishable food donation.
Be Thankful
CMU is currently on a six-game winning streak during the Thanksgiving Tournament. The last tournament loss for Mesa was a 67-63 loss to Dixie State on Nov. 26, 2011.
Player of the Week
Ryan Stephan was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. The Lakewood, Colo., native averaged 27.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest in two games, shooting nearly 58-percent from the field. He sank 15-of-17 free throws while also notching three steals and a block. Twenty of his 23 total rebounds came on the defensive glass. Stephan ranks sixth in career scoring with 1,426 points. He ranks third in Div. II this season averaging 30.3 points per game. In addition to points per game, he ranks in the top-10 in Div. II in seven categories; second in double-doubles (four), total points (121), eighth in total field goals made (42), ninth in rebounds per game (12.0), ninth in free throw attempts (45), ninth in rebounds per game (12.0) and 10th in free throws made (35).Â
Field Goal Success
Despite losing by four points, Colorado Mesa had its best game of the season shooting the basketball against Eastern New Mexico. Mesa shot season-bests from the field (.484) and the line (.857). The Mavs 31 field goals were also a season-high.
Kabir West shot .857 (6-7) from the field, the best by a Mav this season.
CJ Davis drained four 3-pointers, tied for the most by a Mesa player this season.Â
Turn the Ball Over
Say What? CMU is 2-0 this season when it has more turnovers than its opponent and 0-2 when it has the same or fewer turnovers.Â
