GUNNISON, Colo. – Colorado Mesa fell to Eastern New Mexico 86-82 in the final game of the Comfort Inn Classic hosted by Western State Colorado on Saturday evening. The Mavericks fall to 2-2 on the season with all four games at neutral sites.
The Mavericks claimed a 47-40 halftime lead but allowed the Greyhounds to score 46 points in the second half on 14-of-28 shooting (50 percent), 6-of-9 from behind the arc while scoring just 35 points themselves, only 2-of-9 from three-point range.
Ryan Stephan led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 11-of-20 from the field and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. The senior also added 11 rebounds and blocked one shot.
Kabir West finished with 18,
CJ Davis with 12, and
Nate Hawley had 10 in the loss.
Derek Biale had a game-high five assists.
The Mavericks will have their first home games of the season next weekend when they host the Holiday Inn-Airport Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday.
