Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa women's soccer ran its win streak to three with a 1-0 win over New Mexico Highlands on Sunday afternoon at Walker Field in the Mavericks final Rocky Mountain Athletic conference contest.
After playing to a scoreless first half, Colorado Mesa struck for the lone goal of the match in the 48
th minute.
Sarah Pope scored her second goal of the weekend on a cross from
Ashley Wallace on a 2-on-1 breakaway.
New Mexico Highlands had an opportunity on an indirect free kick that occurred just outside the 8-yard goalie box but couldn't convert. The Mavericks were whistled for a goalie handball.
Janelle Richmond-Buccola earned the win and shutout, making two saves while facing nine shots.
The Mavericks will play their final match of the season on Sunday when they take on Westminster at noon.
