Mavs Earn Come From Behind Win

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – After falling behind 1-0, the Colorado Mesa women's soccer team came from behind for a 2-1 victory over the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves on Friday evening at Walker Field.
 
CSU-Pueblo scored their goal in the eighth minute on an Amanda Jorgenson goal from 25 yards out. Jorgenson lofted the ball and hit it off the crossbar into the net for the early lead.
 
Colorado Mesa evened the match in the 31st minute on a penalty kick. Sarah Pope took the kick and converted to the goalies right to even the match at one apiece. The goal was the first of the season for Pope.
 
Junior Courtney Gahagan scored the game-winner in the 36th minute. Gahagan headed in her goal on a cross from Sarah Pope. The goal was the first on the season for Gahagan and the fifth assist for Pope.
 
The two teams played to a scoreless second half.
 
Both teams attempted nine shots in the match.
 
Freshman Janelle Richmond-Buccola earned the win making five saves in the match.
 
Colorado Mesa will be back at Walker Field on Sunday with a match against New Mexico Highlands at 1pm.
