GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Erin Reichle and
Shanna Halalilo combined to score 41 of the Mavericks 55 points in a 55-50 win over the Colorado Christian Cougars on Friday evening in Brownson Arena.
Halalilo led all scorers on the night with 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. She connected on 3-of-5 shots from beyond the three-point line. She also added six rebounds and three assists.
Reichle had 20 points in the game and connected on four three-point field goals. She iced the game late, converting on her only two free-throw attempts of the game.
Colorado Mesa shot 35 percent (19-of-55) from the field and limited the Cougars to 32 percent (18-of-56) on the night. Colorado Christian made one three-point basket while the Mavericks connected on eight three-pointers.
The Mavericks owned the rebounding edge on the night with a 45-35 edge.
Erika Musante finished the night with eight rebounds, all coming in the first half, while teammate
Ashley Stevens added seven.
The Mavericks move into first place in the RMAC with a half-game lead over idle UCCS. They improved to 6-1 in the conference and 9-2 on the season.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action tomorrow night against the Colorado Mines Orediggers at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
