GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa shot 41-percent from the field in a 73-45 win over Western State Colorado in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball contest in Brownson Arena on Saturday night.
The Mavericks assisted on 18-of-19 shots made for the game and were 33 percent from beyond the three-point arc. They also benefitted from 24 Mountaineer turnovers where they scored 21 points off of the mistakes.
The story of the game may have come at the free-throw line. The two teams combined to commit 49 fouls and attempt 69 total free-throws. The Mavericks connected on 28-of-37 (78-percent) while the Mountaineers hit on 20-of-32 (63-percent).
Erin Reichle led all scorers with 25 points on 6-of-12 shooting. She was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and added five assists.
Shanna Halaililo finished the night with 11 and
Ashley Stevens had 10.
Laurel Kasel,
Siu Lo'amanu and Stevens shared the game-high in rebounds with seven.
Harlie Williams led the Mountaineers with 10 points.
The Mavericks will host MSU Denver and Regis next weekend on Brownson Arena.
