COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With the top spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings on the line, the Colorado Mesa women's basketball team fell to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions 72-56 at the Gallogly Center.
The Mavericks could not contain the Mountain Lion duo of Brittany Hernandez and Abby Kirchoff who combined to score 53 points for UCCS. Hernandez finished with a game-high 30 points.
Erin Reichle kept the Mavericks in the game, scoring 16 of her team-high 25 points in the first half of play. She played all 40 minutes of the contest.
Turnovers plagued the Mavericks in the game as they coughed it up 16 times that led to 16 Mountain Lion points. The turnovers helped UCCS lead the game for over 33 minutes.
Laurel Kasel finished with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The loss snaps the Mavericks seven game winning streak that started after a loss to Black Hills State back on December 6, 2014.
