COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions shutout the Colorado Mesa Mavericks 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Field. The Mavericks fall to 3-2-1 on the season and 1-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Mavericks dug themselves a hole in the 30
th minute when they surrendered an own goal to UCCS. They could never recover as they allowed a goal in both the 64
th and 79
th minutes of the match.
Roy Abergil led Colorado Mesa with four shots, two of those coming on net. Abergil helped lead the Mavericks to ten shots in the game but only four made it on goal.
The Mavericks also took more corner kicks than UCCS (5-3) and committed fewer fouls (16-7).
Colorado Mesa will return to action next weekend when they travel to Pueblo, Colorado to take on the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves.
