Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 23 Colorado Mesa University volleyball team held Black Hills State to just .048 hitting in a 3-0 win over the Yellow Jackets Friday (Sept. 19).
After winning the first set 25-17, the Mavericks led the second from start to finish to win 25-13. CMU hit a match-high .194 in the set while holding the opponent to a match-low -.079. The Mavs strong defense continued in the final set holding BHSU to .073.

Dave Fleming praised the defensive play of the team who finished with 69 digs.

Melissa Hess was the lone player to finish in double digits for kills with 12. She also hit a match-high .364.

Kricket Adleman each had 11.
Serving was another bright spot for the Mavericks who tallied four service aces in the contest. The Yellow Jackets had just one service ace and eight errors.
Colorado Mesa improves to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Mavericks host Chadron State Saturday (Sept. 20).
