Colorado Mesa Splits on Final Day of Regular Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado Mesa closed out the regular season with a doubleheader split of the Colorado Mines Orediggers on Saturday at Darden Field. The Mavericks won the first game 9-5 then dropped the series finale 9-5 and finish with a 37-10 overall record.
 
In the first game, the Mavericks tallied seven runs in the fifth inning on their way to the 9-5 win. They banged out 11 hits and stole five bases in the game as well.
 
Austin Kaiser finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two runs driven in. Kaiser also hit his tenth home run of the season in the ninth inning. He finished the regular season with a .500 batting average.
 
Tyler Ehlers picked up the win in relief of starter Kyle Davis. Ehlers pitched four innings of perfect baseball, striking out three over that time. The win was his first of the season.
 
In the series finale, Colorado Mesa squandered a 5-2 lead by allowing Colorado Mines to score seven runs in the fifth inning in a 9-5 win for the Orediggers. Mines outhit the Mavericks 14-7 in the game.
 
Kyle Serrano and Davis Cantwell each had a pair of hits for the Mavericks in the finale.
 
Senior Cody Lahman took the loss on the mound.
 
Colorado Mesa will host the RMAC Tournament at Suplizio Field beginning on Thursday. CSU-Pueblo will take on New Mexico Highlands at 3:30pm followed by Colorado Mesa facing Colorado Mines at 7:00pm.
