NCAA South Central Region Tournament CentralLAST WEEKENDColorado Mesa swept through the RMAC Tournament with a 3-0 record. It was their 11th RMAC Tournament Championship and fifth under Coach

REGIONAL HOSTColorado Mesa is ranked #1 in the NCAA South Central Region poll and is hosting the NCAA Regional Tournament. It is the fourth time in the program's history that they are the Regional host. The last time the Mavericks hosted was back in 2009 where they defeated Wayne State to earn their first trip to the NCAA Division II World Series.
MAVERICKS VS. THE FIELDThe Mavericks have only played New Mexico Highlands this year out of the five other schools in the field. They have a 2-2 record against them this season. CMU holds a 1-0 all-time mark with West Texas A&M, a 0-1 mark against Texas A&M-Kingsville and St. Edward's, and a 2-0 record against Tarleton State.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULECMU went 5-2 in their non-RMAC portion of the schedule. They swept Dixie State in the opening weekend and the Red Storm qualified in the West Region for the NCAA Tournament. The Mavericks also went 1-2 against Division I Northern Colorado.
40Colorado Mesa has 40 wins this season which is their seventh 40-win season in the last 11 years. The school record for wins is 49 which was set in the 2007 season.
LAYING THEM DOWNThe Mavericks have become excellent bunters over the past few years. This season they have a .740 batting average when bunting with 37 hits and 43 sacrifices.
TOUGH TO STRIKEOUTColorado Mesa has three players that rank in the top 150 in the nation in toughest to strikeout.
Garrett Carpenter ranks fifth in the country at a strikeout per every 34.2 at-bats.
Derrick Garcia actually leads the team with a strikeout per every 39 at-bats but doesnt qaulify nationally.

Matt Delay pitched the first complete-game nine inning shutout of the season for the Mavericks. Delay only needed 97 pitches in the game and allowed just six hits and didnt walk anyone.
FILLING INSophomore reliever
Matt Allen got the emergency start in game two of the tournament, filling in for the injured
Joey Danner. Allen, the All-RMAC First Team reliever, picked the perfect day to have his best start of his career. He pitched 6.2 innings and allowed five runs on nine hits while striking out five.
DRIVE EM INThe Mavericks are 30-4 this season when they score six runs or more in a game and are just 10-6 when they dont reach the mark.
ON DECKIf the Mavericks win the South Central Region Tournament, they will advance to the NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, North Carolina. It would be their second trip to the World Series.
