Pueblo Wins Series Finale in Extra Innings

Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. – CSU-Pueblo capitalized on an error by the Colorado Mesa baseball team in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the series finale 9-8 Sunday (April 6).
 
The Thunderwolves wasted no time putting up runs scoring four in the bottom of the first.
 
The Mavericks led off the top of the second inning with four straight hits leading to a pair of runs.
 
CMU would take the lead in the third after scoring three runs. The Mavs added one run in both the fourth and sixth innings.
 
Pueblo forced the game to extra innings after scoring three runs on two hits in the bottom of the ninth.
 
Both teams would put one run across the plate in the 10th.
 
CSUP led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a pair of singles and then scored the winning run by a throwing error by CMU.
 
Kyle Serrano led the Mavericks with three RBIs, two runs scored and hitting 2-for-5.
 
Colorado Mesa used seven different pitchers in the contest with Kyle Davis handling the bulk of the work striking out six, giving up eight hits and four runs in seven innings of work.
 
Cody Lahman (2-2) took the loss in 0.2 innings of action.
 
CMU (23-8, 17-5) will host Metro State April 11-13.
