Box Score 2 DENVER, Colo. – Colorado Mesa split a doubleheader with the host Regis Rangers on Saturday afternoon at Regis Baseball Field. The Mavericks won 16-11 in the first game but fell in the series finale 10-9. The Mavericks claimed the Mountain Division Championship with a win in the first game and remain three games up for the Regular Season RMAC Championship.
In game one, the Mavericks hammered out 22 hits including eight for extra bases in a 16-11 win over the Rangers. The win gave the Mavericks an 11 game winning streak, the longest streak they have had this season.
Seven Maverick pitchers threw in the game with
Dustin Robirtis earning the win. Robirtis threw just a third of an inning and allowed one hit and struck out one.
Jordan Liester continued to tear the cover off the ball. Liester finished the game 4-for-5 with five runs scored and five runs driven in, including a triple and a home run. The runs scored and RBIs are both career highs for the senior.
Five other Mavericks finished the game with three hits.
In the series finale, the Rangers tallied five runs in the seventh inning to walk off with a 10-9 win over the Mavericks. CMU was outhit by the Rangers in the game and swiftly ended the Mavericks winning streak at 11 games.
Freshman
Jake Druce led the Mavericks at the plate in game two. Druce finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five runs driven in. He also hit his first career home run, a three-run shot to left field.
Austin Kaiser also homered for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks will conclude the regular season with a four-game series on the road against Colorado Mines in Golden.
