Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 20
th ranked Colorado Mesa baseball team completed a four-game sweep of the Metro State Roadrunners with a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks are now 27-8 on the season and a perfect 20-0 at home.
Kyle Davis pitched six innings and allowed one run on nine hits, walked no one and struck out three to pick up his fourth win of the season.
Davis worked out of numerous jams on the day. Davis and the rest of the staff stranded 13 Roadrunners on base throughout the game.
Metro State threatened in the seventh inning when they had one run in and the bases loaded with nobody out.
Dakota Behr entered and struck out two and got the final Metro State batter to pop up.
Trent Allianic picked up his first save of the season after working the ninth inning.
After leading 3-2 heading to the eighth inning,
Nate Robertson delivered a two-run single to give the Mavericks all the insurance they needed.
Garrett Carpenter,
Austin Wallingford, and Robertson all finished with two hits in the game.
The Mavericks will host their final regular season home series next weekend when they play the Colorado Christian Cougars. The series will begin on Thursday at 6:05pm due to the Easter weekend.
