Mavericks Slow Down Roadrunners

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 20th ranked Colorado Mesa baseball team scored nine runs in the first inning on their way to a 13-4 win over the Metro State Roadrunners. The Mavericks pounded out 15 hits in the game and benefitted from three Roadrunner errors.
 
The first eight Mavericks reached base in the first inning with Tony Audino and Jordan Liester each picking up two-run singles in the inning. They scored nine runs on seven hits in the inning.
 
Nate Robertson finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a run driven in. Robertson also had a double.
 
Austin Kaiser finished with three hits and three runs scored. Kaiser raised his average to .525 in the game and two of his three hits were bunt base-hits. He also stole his team-leading 18th stolen base.
 
Matt Delay picked up the win and improved to 4-0. Delay pitched 5.2 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits, walked three and four strikeouts.
 
Tyler Dunnington came in to the game in relief and struck out five of the six batters he faced.
 
Metro State's Daryl Baca finished with two hits including a home run to left field.
 
Colorado Mesa and Metro State will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1:00pm.
