HOME FIELD ADVANTAGEThe Mavericks are a perfect 16-0 this season at Suplizio Field. They are hitting .342 and have a 1.94 ERA at home and have pitched a shutout in four games. They are also on a streak of 305 consecutive home games without being shutout that fates back to 2004.
AKSenior Outfielder
Austin Kaiser leads the nation with a .522 batting average and is second in slugging percentage at .852.. He leads the RMAC in every major statistical category including on base (.555), slugging, runs (38), hits (60), doubles (15), and RBIs (37).
BATS ARE ALIVEColorado Mesa started off slow this season at the plate. Heading into the month of March, the Mavericks were hitting just .256 as a team. Since then they have raised their average 79 points to .335 which leads the RMAC and is among the nation's best.
JACK OF ALL TRADESSenior
Garrett Carpenter has helped the Mavericks in both the field and on the mound this season. He is entering the weekend batting .323 with four doubles and a home run while playing 28 games in the outfield. He also has pitched 7.1 innings and has yet to allow a run and has recorded three saves.
STAFF ACEJunior righty
Matt Delay has transformed from long reliever to staff ace. Delay has allowed one earned run in four of his five starts and has gone at least six innings since moving into the rotation. He has lowered his ERA to an RMAC best 2.25.
WILSON RETURNSJunior lefthander
Nevin Wilson will return to his spot in the pitching rotation this weekend. Wilson was nursing an injury which he sustained in the Colorado Mines series four weeks ago. Wilson enters the weekend with a 2-1 record and a 2.95 ERA.
ON DECKColorado Mesa will play their final regular season home series next weekend against Colorado Christian. That series will be played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to the Easter weekend. Saturday's game will be Grand Valley Baseball Appreciation Day and Senior Day. Fans can enjoy $5 tickets to the game.
