Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep of the Regis Rangers today, winning by scores of 10-0 and 8-1 at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks only allowed nine hits in the two games and improved to 9-3 on the season.
In game one of the doubleheader, lefty
Nevin Wilson only allowed two Ranger hits while striking out 11 in Colorado Mesa's 10-0 win. Wilson pitched six shutout innings and only walked on batter.
Garrett Carpenter finished the game with four runs driven in including his first homerun of the season that tucked just inside the left field foul pole.
Outfielder
Austin Kaiser finished the game with three hits and scored two runs. He also stole one base.
In the nightcap, the Mavericks put up runs in the first four innings on their way to their fourth RMAC victory of the season.
Kaiser added three more hits and scored three more runs on the day. He finished 6-for-7 on the day with five runs scored and two stolen bases.
Kevin Mitchell blasted a two-run homerun in the third inning. It was his first homerun of the season.
Matt Allen got the emergency start and went four innings, earning his second win of the season. Allen allowed one run on five hit and struck out two. Allen started in place of
Joey Danner who came down with the flu last night.
Tomorrow's series finale begins at 2:00pm at Suplizio Field.
