Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Austin Kaiser and
Sergio Valenzuela each drove in two runs to help give Colorado Mesa a 5-3 win over Regis University on Saturday in the opening game of a four-game series with the Rangers at Suplizio Field.
Kaiser finished the game 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored while Valenzuela finished 1-for-2 with a sac fly.
Kevin Mitchell and
Tony Audino each finished with two hits as well.
Matt Delay got his first start for the Mavericks on Saturday and didn't disappoint. Delay pitched seven strong innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, walked one and struck out 13. Delay only needed 107 pitches in his seven innings of work.
Dakota Behr picked up his fourth save of the season, tossing a perfect ninth inning.
The Mavericks will be back in action tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00pm at Suplizio Field.
