Druce's Hit Powers Mavericks to Sweep of Grizzlies

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Jake Druce's pinch hit with two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning broke up a 2-2 tie and helped Colorado Mesa to a 5-2 win over Adams State on Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks swept the Grizzlies and remained undefeated at home this season.

The Mavericks got solid pitching all day but struggled to get anything going offensively until the seventh inning.

Kyle Davis got the no decision in the start. Davis went six innings and allowed one run on three hits, didn't walk anybody and struck out two.

Matt Allen picked up the win in relief to move to 4-1 on the season. Allen pitched 1.2 innings and allowed one run on three hits and struck out one.

Dakota Behr pitched a perfect ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season.

Austin Kaiser was the lone Mavericks with multiple hits. Kaiser finished 2-for-4 with one run scored and a RBI. He also hit his 11th double in the game.

Once the Mavericks reached base, it didn't take them long to move around them as they stole eight bases in the game and finished the weekend with 22 stolen bases.

The Mavericks leave the weekend with a four game lead in the RMAC over New Mexico Highlands.

Colorado Mesa will be on the road next weekend for a four-game series with CSU-Pueblo starting on Friday.
