Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa swept a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader from the Adams State Grizzlies by scores of 12-3 and 6-0 on Saturday at Suplizio Field. Colorado Mesa improved their record to 20-6 on the season and an RMAC best 14-3 in the conference.
In the opener, lefthander
Ryan Reno pitched six shutout innings and scattered three hits in the 12-3 win over the Grizzlies. Reno improved his record to 3-0 on the season and retired 13 of the first 14 batters he faced in the game.
Austin Kaiser put his average above .500 with a 4-for-4 performance in the game. Kaiser was a triple away from the cycle and finished the game with two doubles, two runs scored and four runs driven in. He also hit his team-leading fifth homerun of the season.
Austin Wallingford and
Kevin Mitchell each finished with two hits in the game.
In the nightcap, senior
Joey Danner fired a three-hit, complete game shutout in a 6-0 victory. Danner improved his record to 4-2 on the season and didn't allow a Grizzly to reach third base in the game.
Junior
Tony Audino finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a run driven in. Audino hit his eighth double of the season in bottom of the sixth.
In the series thus far, Colorado Mesa have hit .378 and have stolen 14 bases.
The Mavericks will go for their fourth series sweep of the season at home in the series finale tomorrow afternoon at 12:00pm.
