Men's Basketball Falls in Overtime

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. – Sophomore Ryan Stephan scored a game-high 18 points for the Colorado Mesa men's basketball team but it wasn't enough as Adams State defeated Mesa 87-82 in overtime Friday (Feb. 28).

The Grizzlies opened the game on a 9-0 run and extended their lead to a game-high 10 points, 27-17, with 7:10 remaining in the first half. The Mavericks responded by closing the half on a 13-6 run to trail by just three, 33-30, at the break.

ASU led for the majority of the second half, until Jerry Duckworth drained a 3-pointer with 36 seconds remaining to give CMU a two-point lead, 70-68. He finished with 11 points off the bench.

Julian Scott made a jumper for ASU with 25 seconds remaining to tie the game, and Joe Kiely's lay-up at the buzzer was no good.
