GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – No. 8 CSU-Pueblo finished with 429 yards of total offense in a 52-3 win at Colorado Mesa Saturday (Nov. 8).
The Mavericks tallied 176 yards of total offense in the contest.
The Pueblo defense forced Mesa to a three and out on the opening drive of the game, but Pueblo was called for roughing the punter to keep the drive alive.
The Mavericks would get within seven yards of the endzone before the Thunderwolves intercepted a deflected pass and returned it to midfield.
Cameron McDondle would complete the drive with his first of two touchdown runs on the night at 7:31 of the first quarter.
CSUP would score another touchdown in the first and three more in the second to lead 38-0 at half.
The lead would grow to 52-0 in the fourth quarter before
Ryan Sheehan concluded the scoring with a 27-yard field goal for the Mavericks with 8:48 remaining.
Pueblo scored 21 points on four interceptions.
Salim Cleghorne led the Mavericks with 10 tackles, including seven solo, and one tackle for loss.
Tom Saager had nine tackles, six solo, and a team-high two tackles for loss.
CMU (5-5, 4-4) will host Western State in the season finale for both schools Nov. 15 at 2 pm.
