The No. 9 ranked Colorado Mesa volleyball team won its first RMAC Title since 1994 with a 3-1 win at Adams State Friday (Nov. 7).

Abby Ney would get things started earning the first point of the game with a nice one timer. The Mavs took five of the first six points of the night thanks to a couple of blasts from
Casey Ball and
Audrey Steinkirchner. A service ace by
Abby Ney put CMU up 8-2 early in the set. An attack error by the Grizzlies helped Colorado Mesa gain the 12-7 lead midway through the set. Â Colorado Mesa pulled out to six point advantage when another error by Adams State put the score at 18-12.
Abby Ney would end the set the same she started it with a kill.

Much like the first set, CMU jumped out to the early thanks to back-to-back errors by the Grizzlies. Colorado Mesa would do the same by giving Adams State two points on errors to tie the score. Midway through the game, another attack error by the Grizzlies' put the score at 15-6 in favor of the Mavericks. Colorado Mesa would take their largest lead of the game with
Audrey Steinkirchner put CMU up by 10 (21-11). Up by nine and at set point, the Mavericks
Casey Ball hammered one to give Colorado Mesa the 25-15 victory.

With CMU enjoying a the 2-0 advantage, needing just one more win to become the RMAC Champions, Colorado Mesa gave fans a scare when they dropped the third set. The Mavericks fell behind early, at one time trailing 10-3, and could never sustain the play they had in the first two games. An error by the Mavericks would hand Adams State the 25-21 win.

After a very disappointing third game, Colorado Mesa came out swinging taking 10 of the first 13 points. CMU would dominate the game, creating their largest lead of the evening (11) when
Audrey Steinkirchner recorded a kill to put the score at 16-5. With the score at 24-14 and the RMAC Championship at the tip of their fingers,
Christian Otzen powered one by the Grizzlies to give the Mavericks the win 25-14.

Jordyn Moody led the way with her second straight double-double when she recorded 48 assists and 11 digs.
Melissa Hess had another strong night hitting .455 with 13 kills.
Abby Ney tallied 10 kills on the evening. Libero
Tiffany Petersen had a solid defensive night digging 14 balls. Colorado Mesa hit .211 and limited the Grizzlies to a .090 hit percentage.

Colorado Mesa will host the first round of the RMAC Tournament Tuesday (Nov. 11) at 7 pm against a team yet to be determined.
