GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – The No. 9 ranked Colorado Mesa men's soccer team fell 3-0 to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Friday night in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals at Walker Field.
The loss ended the Mavericks 12 match winning streak and dropped their record to 1-2 on the season against the Mountain Lions. They also fell 3-0 to UCCS back on September 21 in Colorado Springs as well.
Conor Langenbahn put the Mountain Lions up with just 1:37 left to play in the first half and UCCS never looked back.
The Mountain Lions tacked on two more goals in the second half.
Goalkeeper David Meyer made eight saves in the match and faced 13 shots from the Mavericks.
Roy Abergil led Colorado Mesa with four shots with three of those coming on frame.
The Mavericks will now await the NCAA Selection Committee on whether or not they have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. They entered the week in the No. 1 position in the South Central region with the selection show set to air on Monday at 5:30pm on NCAA.com.
