CEDAR CITY, Utah – One night after defeating a Div. 1 team, Colorado Mesa fell to another in a 98-59 loss to Southern Utah University at Centrum Arena on Tuesday night.
Erin Reichle led the Mavericks for the second straight night with 21 points and five assists. Reichle was just 4-of-14 from the field and 3-of-11 from beyond the three point arc.
Colorado Mesa finished the night shooting 33 percent from the field and connected on only 60 percent of their free-throws. The Mavericks committed 23 turnovers in the game with the Thunderbirds picking up ten steals in the process
Southern Utah, the 2014 Big Sky Conference champions, got 20 points from Hailey Mandelko with Desirae Jackson finishing with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Siu Lo'amanu finished with seven points and
Erika Musante added six points.
The Mavericks will open the season up next Friday and Saturday at the CCU Tournament in Lakewood, Colo.
