WEEKEND RECAP
Colorado Mesa went 0-1-1 last weekend in two matches with Western State Colorado and Colorado Colorado Springs.

Against the Mountaineers, Colorado Mesa outshot Western State 14-9 and had more shots on net 4-1.

After a Julia Kranstover goal in the 26th minute, the Mavericks took a 1-0 lead over UCCS and were poised for their first victory. But, a pair of goals in four minutes, in the final four minutes of the match gave the Mountain Lions a 2-1 win.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa is hosting 'Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend' with all athletic events this weekend. CMU 1982 Alum Kathy Howa's foundation 'Swing for Life' will be at soccer matches on Friday accepting donations and selling pink items. The Maverick administrative staff will be wearing pink polos this weekend with the teams selling and wearing pink jerseys and shirts in an effort to fundraise money and to raise awareness for breast cancer.

HISTORY WITH COLORADO MINES
The Mavericks have not had a lot of succes against the Orediggers in their history. CMU has a 3-10-1 record all-time in the series. The lone wins came in the first two seasons of Colorado Mines' program history back in 2006 and 2007.

HISTORY WITH THE ROADRUNNERS
Colorado Mesa is 13-22-0 all-time against MSU Denver with their last win coming in the RMAC Tournament in 2012. One key to defeating MSU Denver may be to score first. When teams score first against MSUD, they are 21-10-6 in the last five seasons.

SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS
One possible key to the Mavericks pulling off the upset this weekend may lie in how many shots they take. When CMU outshoots their opponents they are 0-1-3 this season. When they are outshot, the Mavericks are 0-5-0.

DIFFERENT SCORERS
The Mavericks have scored six goals this season from six different goal scorers. Marie Dreher and Amanda Wenzel are two fo them and their goals are the first of their career. Dreher is a sophomore and Wenzel a freshman.

PLAYOFF PICTURE?
Its never too early to look at the playoff picture in the RMAC. Even though the Mavericks have yet to win a match, they are in the playoff hunt. They are just three matches back of the sixth spot in the standings.

RMAC HISTORY
This summer the RMAC held their Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Colorado Springs. Three-time All-American Cheryl Bates-Olson was inducted as the first soccer player, men or women, into the RMAC Hall of Fame. Bates-Olson is tied for the school record in games played and games started. She also played in three NCAA Tournaments.

RMAC PRESEASON POLL
Colorado Mesa was picked to finish ninth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll and didnt place anyone on the preseason team. Colorado Mines was picked to win the league while Metro State was second.

NEXT UP
The Mavericks will be back on the road for a pair of RMAC matches. They will play at Adams State next Friday before heading north to Denver for a match with Regis on Sunday.
