Box Score GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University volleyball team tallied 40 kills in a 3-0 RMAC win at Western State Saturday (Oct. 4).
The Mavericks hit a match-high .500 in the opening set to win 25-12. CMU finished with 14 kills with just one error on 26 attempts.
Mesa cooled off in the second hitting a match-low .100 but squeezed out a 25-23 win. CMU won the third set 25-15 thanks to a .250 hitting percentage including 11 kills.
Abby Ney led the Mavericks with nine kills and a .438 attack percentage.
Melissa Hess and
Audrey Steinkirchner finished with a combined 15 kills.
Jordyn Moody finished with a match-high 28 assists, and
Erin Perez had a match-high 16 digs.
Tiffany Petersen was the only other player with more than 10 digs as she finished with 10.
Western State struggled offensively all match finishing with a team attack percentage of .021 including 24 errors.
CMU finished with a heavy advantage in both kills (40-24) and digs (48-29).
Colorado Mesa (13-3, 7-1) will host Western New Mexico Oct. 10.
